Just When I thought The View Couldn’t Get Any More Obnoxious…They Hire Rosie O’Donnell

April 27th, 2006

The View, for those of you who don’t keep up with daytime television, is a show where women gossip about the goings-on in Hollywood, and other current events. It is hosted by Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Joy Behar, Star Jones Reynolds, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. I’ve seen it a couple of times, and truthfully, I can’t stand it.

Now that Meredith Vieira has accepted the position on the Today show (replacing ‘worlds largest elf’ Katie Couric), it has been announced that Rosie O’Donnell will replace Ms. Vieira. I guess Barbara Walters and Star Jones (aaak!) aren’t pushy and obnoxious enough for daytime tv. They needed to bring in the big guns. (And I mean BIG!) I think my biggest problem with Rosie O’Donnell is that she scares me. She’s a large woman with a nasty temper and a bad attitude. I wouldn’t want to meet up with her in a dark alley at night. Or in a well lit street…during the day. All I can say is I sure won’t be watching The View anytime soon. Unless I’m in the mood for a horror show.

HUGE Bunnies

This past week, a story was running on Yahoo about a giant rabbit that is terrorizing the vegetable patches of England. You can read it here. The funny thing about it are the similarities between the story and the fun loving Wallace and Grommit movie, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. The mere fact that there are rabbits as large as were featured in this story got my husband to thinking how cool it would be to have a pet bunny that big. (Some breeds, such as the Continental Giant can grow up to 30 pounds. Honey Bunny, our pet bunny, weighs in at a whopping 6.5 pounds!)

One of Preston’s (my husband) employees wrote about his comments on his blog here. He cracks me up!

I’ll write updates if we end up with any oversized rabbits.

Susan McKay - Weber State University Professor and Animal Abuser

April 11th, 2006

Susan McKay is a Professor at Weber State University who also owns land and many animals. Today a story was done on KSL, the local NBC affiliate news station. This woman owns many, many sheep, and apparently refuses to care for the animals she owns. There were dead sheep found everywhere, and the live ones were in atrocious condition. They appeared ragged and dirty. The KSL story can be found here. It is quite pathetic that someone that is so “educated” can be so lacking in common sense and decency. Anyone with a heart can simply look at the animals and see that they are suffering. This woman claims that it is a temporary problem, and that because she has a broken arm, she cannot care for the animals. According to neighbors, this is a problem that has been going on for years. Unless her arm has been broken for years, that is a lame excuse. It can’t explain the problem, either. She could easily hire someone to care for the animals. It is disgusting to me that she simply does not care enough to do something.

The laws in Utah protecting animals need to be changed. Several complaints have been filed over several years, but the laws are simply not strong enough to protect the defenseless animals. Domestic animals are helpless, and completely dependent upon their owners. If the humans are not intelligent enough to care for the animal’s most basic needs, they should not be allowed to own animals.
