Bill Clinton - Something to Hide?

September 26th, 2006

Hmm…Bill Clinton made an interesting impression during his interview with Fox’s Chris Wallace. My impression of the interview was that, based on his reaction to a simple question posed by Wallace (”Did you do enough to connect the dots and go after Al Qaida?”) he had something to hide. Why else would he be so combatative and reactive to such a simple question? He began attacking the current administration, and became very agressive towards Wallace. (For an article and photo of the interview, click here.)

Clinton’s presidency has been widely criticized because he diminished the defense budget during his presidency, and did not go after and kill Al Qaida and Osama Bin Laden when he had a chance to. If he had done his job, history could be different, and perhaps some of the tragedies that have affected this country could have been avoided. Perhaps not, but if you cut the head off the snake, it tends to lose direction and die.

In typical Clinton fashion, he managed to turn the question around, and try to blame everyone else for what happened, rather than answer the question. A simple answer would have sufficed, but as we all found out after the Lewinsky Affair, Clinton has a problem with telling the truth, and would rather talk around a question than answer it.

Clinton, once again, showed his true colors during the interview. He can’t handle criticism, so he has to turn it around and blame someone else, and say that the conservatives are out trying to put a “hit job” on him. Yeah, right. Nice one, Billy boy. Be serious.

Steve Irwin - The Crocodile Hunter - An Untimely Death

September 4th, 2006

This morning, we heard the sad news of the untimely death of Steve Irwin, an Australian animal lover and conservationist, better known as “The Crocodile Hunter.”

Steve Irwin was known for his daring, yet controlled encounters with wild animals of all sorts, ranging from crocodiles and snakes, to kangaroos, and just about anything in-between. I was sad to hear the news of his death - I always enjoyed watching his shows on Animal Planet, a cable channel devoted to animals. Irwin had many shows, including Croc Files and The Crocodile Hunter. He was always funny and entertaining, and yet his shows had a point. He always wanted to stress the importance of taking care of nature, and preserving the habitats of the animals he worked with, and loved. Irwin took calculated risks with the animals; he knew they were dangerous, but he was well trained in how to handle them. His death was the result of a freak accident, not because of any carelessness on his part.

According to reports, he was swimming and working on an underwater documentary. He swam over a sting ray, and the animal’s tail snapped up, and the barb pierced Irwin’s chest, puncturing his heart. He died almost immediately.

I hope that Irwin will be remembered for all the good he did for the world of animals and nature. He worked to protect and preserve the animals he loved so much. He was not careless or reckless. He was quite the opposite. He was very careful, and knew what he was doing. I hope people are not critical of him as a result of his tragic death. He was doing something he loved, and something he was good at. God bless him and his family. His death is a loss to us all, whether we are human or not.

Rocky Anderson Does it Again

September 3rd, 2006

Rocky Anderson, mayor of Salt Lake City, has once again, proved himself idiotic. He decided to protest President Bush coming to Salt Lake City. President Bush came to support the American Legion, and also to speak at a fundraiser for Senator Orrin Hatch.

Rocky Anderson, like every American, has a right to free speech, which is one of the rights that makes this country great. Unfortunately, some people have no class, and do not pick the correct time or place to practice this right. Rocky Anderson is one of them. Protesting the President, when he is staying in the city of which Anderson is the mayor, is both rude and class-less. As a result of his actions, the American Legion is considering boycotting Salt Lake.

I, as a resident of SLC, am sick and tired of the publicity that the media is giving to Anderson, praising him for “standing up to the President.” I’m only writing about Anderson to point out that he is a pathetic excuse for a mayor, and I am ashamed that he represents the city of Salt Lake. At least he will not run anymore once his current term is completed. Then we’ll be rid of him.

The Deseret News published the following comment sent in by a reader, which I found quite comical:

Rocky Living Boyhood Dream
We should all stand and applaud Rocky Anderson. We all must someday face the challenge of trying to recapture the lost dreams of our youth while facing the reality of midlife. Mayor Anderson is living out his boyhood dream of being in the circus. After all, he’s a clown.”
- Jerry Elzinga of Chester, Texas

I appreciated this comment because it really does sum up how many feel about Anderson. I just want people to know that residents of Salt Lake do not support Rocky Anderson, and most of us are embarassed by his actions. We all anxiously await the time he steps down as mayor, and someone competent steps up. After all, as I mentioned in my previous blog post about Anderson, “Rocky Anderson is an idiot.”
