California Voters - Vote Yes on Prop 8
Monday, October 20th, 2008 |
I was just in San Jose visiting my family, and it was interesting to see how big an issue Prop 8 has become, for many reasons. Proposition 8 defines marriage as “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.â€
The same Proposition (Prop 22) was passed in 2000 by California voters, however, four CA supreme court judges overturned this, legalizing marriage between anyone and anyone. (I’m sure PETA will soon push for animals to be given the right to marry, too…)
What is scary is that the will of the people was overturned by four judges, forcing a re-vote. These judges decided that they didn’t like what California voters decided, so they went ahead and made a decision that Californians had to deal with. That is why Prop 8 is so important in this coming November’s election. California voters need to protect their children, protect marriage, and protect their voting rights. For more information, check out the Protect Marriage website, and vote Yes on Prop 8 if you’re a voter in California.
